Course Description
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of an incident and coordination of other first aiders until medical or other assistance arrives.
Units Delivered

- HLTAID014 - Provide Advanced First Aid
- HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid
Entry Requirements
Students undertaking HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid must be able to meet the practical, identification and learning requirements of the course.
- Provide an official form of photo identification, such as a driver licence, passport or student ID.
- Have the physical capability to complete the practical demonstration skills, including CPR performed on the floor with no exemptions.
- Have the language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills needed to follow detailed first aid instructions, read emergency information, complete incident documentation, communicate clearly in emergency scenarios, monitor times/vital signs and access online learning resources.
- Have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other internet-connected device to complete online learning and assessment tasks where required.
Online pre-course learning and theory assessment may be required before the face-to-face practical session.
Course Details
Assessment Activities
Assessment includes written and practical tasks.
- Perform CPR on an adult, including use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position.
- Perform CPR on an infant.
- Manage casualties with anaphylaxis, asthma, choking, non-life-threatening bleeding, nosebleed, fracture, dislocation, sprain, strain and envenomation.
- Manage a simulated life-threatening bleed and shock scenario.
- Coordinate a multiple casualty incident.
- Complete first aid incident report documentation to the required standard.
- Complete a written theory assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Important Learner Information
